I had the pleasure today of taking some photos for my little sister. I like how that sounds. It makes me feel important, but in reality I am just an instrument and my camera is the tool. When I take photos, I always feel that I can capture the essence of what is inside a person. Beauty is not always about what is outside, it is what you project from the soul. When I look at these photos,
I see more than a beautiful face. I see what is not available to the human eye. I see soul.
It is truly wonderful to see that years of knowing someone can either bring you an understanding of what they are, or you just might not have a clue. Either way, I like to think I am someone who knows something, whatever that is. I think in the photos I captured her essence. She is beautiful, soft, and caring. Sometimes I don't think she sees that, but for us, the people that watch and care, we see that and more. I don't think life is perfect; my family is not perfect. What I do know is that the deep bond and love we have for each other will always carry us through any storm life brings our way. Today, on the month of her birthday, I honor her with my love, imperfect as it may be, and with a rich understanding that we might not always agree on everything, but when it comes to loving each other, we have plenty of that.
